Birthdays : Some debate but no one admitting to it.

 

 

 

President’s Announcements :

 

 1] Concert for Chernobyl: This event was attended by President Gordon & Irene on Saturday. The children enjoyed themselves & hopefully will be back next year.

2] The Muncaster Golf tournament will take place this Friday; the funds raised will go to the Chernobyl children.

3] The meeting scheduled for October 14th will be an evening meeting. It will be a joint meeting with Castle club. Both clubs will be addressed by DG Tony Parrini.

4] RC Cockermouth is holding a Presidential Dance at Hundith Hill on Thursday 28.8.08. ; 8 – 12 pm. Entry is 5 GBP pp after which you select & pay for your own meal.

 

 

 

 

 

Secretary’s Announcements:

 

1] Paint the town Red. This will take place on 30.8.08. RC Workington is looking for stewards.

 

2] Secretary David has received a letter asking for help with a project in Ukraine. David proposed that this be discussed in council & this was accepted by the meeting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Member’s Announcements:

 

1] Paul Berry. President Gordon informed the club that Paul’s surgery was successful.

 

2] David Ellison. Bob Wright reported that David had been unwell but the he was recovering.

 

3] Bowls: Harry Harper is trying to arrange a bowls match in 2 weeks time. The exact date & time TBA. He is looking for 8 bowlers. Please contact Harry if interested.

 

4] RYLA/RYPEN. John Messenger reports that following interviews at local schools , two candidates and two reserves have been selected. He is hoping that at least one of the reserves may be funded to go by RC Egremont.

 

 

 

 

Speaker: Our mystery speaker was PP Anthony Payne who gave an eloquent speech on the Law of unintended consequences.
