Visits to Other Clubs: President Gordon had
attended the R/C of Penrith charter last Friday at which 94 people attended, the
meal was 'ordinary' but a good night of fellowship was enjoyed.
PP Anthony had attended Gosforth Probus and R/C of Egremont very recently
at which he was guest speaker.
Birthdays: PP Richard Stout enjoyed another
milestone yesterday !
Presidential Announcements: A reminder that next
Tuesday evening club members are encouraged to attend the Brendan Shine concert
at Hundith Hill Hotel in aid of Hospice @ Home.
Secretarial Announcements: Following on from the
above announcement, tickets for the 'rambling' Irishman (Brendan Shine) are
available today from the Secretary otherwise contact PP Richard, £14 each
commences 7.30pm although Bar Suppers are available at the Hundith Hill
Hotel from 6.00pm onwards.
Rotary charter anniversaries to attend are:-
Barrow-in-Furness Nov. 13th (last call today),
Carlisle Friday 14th Nov (partners welcome),
Cockermouth Friday 28th November (menu choice) and
Workington Friday 5th December. Full details on the Charter
Board circulating at club meetings.
Members Announcements: Quiz Team Captain Anthony
advised that the first round of the Rotary Quiz takes place this evening at
Hunday Manor Hotel starting at 7.00pm against the R/C of
Workington Derwent. Members present wished Anthony, Tom (S), Geoff and
Tony good luck for the contest.
Sport: President Gordon advised that Sports Officer
Harry has arranged an indoor bowls game at Cleator Moor Bowling Club tomorrow
evening (a free gratis invitation from the management). Our bowling members have
already been contacted by Harry but other Club members are encouraged to go
along.
There being no other business PHF Tom issued
question sheets for an in-house 'intelligence' test of 24 Dingbats
to be de-coded in a ten minute period. The best score was 10 !
Club Draw: Won by Richard Stout on ticket number
387. Richard contributed the £5 winners back into the communal 'pot'
Fellowship Officer: The cannae Geordie issued one
fine to PP John (M) for late arrival which reduced the fine 'credit' to £4.60p
and then told an acceptable joke about an ugly wife.
Next Week: As previously mentioned, next week
members are encouraged to attend the Brendan Shine concert at Hundith Hill
Hotel.
The following Tuesday lunchtime meeting (11th Nov.) will be a Business
Meeting to discuss any pertinent deliberations from the November Council
Meeting.
