Visits to other clubs: Brian Proctor visited RC Alajuela and exchanged banners with Louis Rodriguez. Gordon Southward, David Saxon and Paul Berry attended the RC Keswick Charter. 112 attended. The food was good but the speeches were poor. Albert Johnson was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship.

President’s announcements: The Bag Pack at TESCO raised 440 GBP. He has received a letter from RC Workington thanking the club for helping in the |Paint the town Red project; a cheque for 100 GBP was enclosed.
Secretary’s Announcements: 1] RI convention, Birmingham, 20-24th June. 2] RC West Lakeland Burns supper, Tuesday 27.1.09, 20 GBP, Ladies invited, 7 for 7.30. 3] RC Workington Charter/Burns supper, Friday 6.2.08, 22GBP, 7 for 7.30.
Technical tournament: Friday 6.3.08. Stewards required. Please contact secretary David if you can help. This event clashed with the District Conference.

Richard Stout has spoken to Donald Dixon who is back at work. Donald is seeing a consultant.
David W-B: Teddy bears. Most are selling well. Three have been completely sold raising 160GBP.
Sport: a sports night was held on 13.1.09 at Moresby social club. RC Maryport were the visitors.
A resume of the club council meeting of 7.1.09 was distributed to club members.
A request had been made for help to buy a cornet for a gifted young player. Fortunately the lad had an uncle who supplied a cornet which was made serviceable by a donation from RC Workington Derwent.
Donald Brownrigg: There are two entries for this year’s Youth Speaks. Donald and John Messenger will make the necessary arrangements.
The club thanked the LIARS committee for their efforts at the Christmas Lunch. 33 attended. Thanks to all members who helped in various ways throughout the year and on the day itself. The LIARS committee will be meeting on Thursday 22.1.09 to review the event and to decide its’ future.
