President’s  Announcements:

Whitehaven Food Festival 8th-9th August: volunteers needed for manning the stand in 2-hour slots: list circulating.

The website has been updated.

Volunteers needed to run a Rotary Shop and to run the Bottle Draw (Paul Berry & Jim Isherwood took up these task respectively.)

Committee Chairs to stay behind for brief discussion of salient matters.

 

Secretarial Announcements: 

R/C of W’hvn Castle – charter Friday 11th Sept – menu choice: the new charter board is already circulating.

Subs of £100 now due: by post to Tony Parker or handed to the Secretary.

PP David Allan gave more details of the Food Festival.

 

Speaker: The two members of the Miners’ Lamp Theatre Company gave a brief history of the company since its foundation in 2001 to maintain use of the Cumbrian vernacular.  They then portrayed a cast of thousands in two excerpts from “The Cumbrian Macbeth” and a sketch called “Rural Ramble”.
