On this day in 1939, the composer Rachmaninov played
Beethoven’s 1st Piano Concert and his own Paganini Variations at the
Lucerne Festival, his last appearance in Europe.

President’s Announcements:
At the Food Festival, £131.52 was raised on the Saturday and £199.03 on
the Sunday with the help of 18 Whitehaven and Castle Club members and partners
and friends. The winning ticket is still to be drawn, possibly at a future
meeting.
Council meets 12th
August, 7 pm, at Moresby Hall.
£230 received from Vintage Rally for
help with car-parking, to be shared with Castle Club.
Secretarial Announcements

Thanks for Life Campaign: this is to be
discussed at Council and the Club will be informed as to the way forward.
Club Members’ Announcements: PP Richard announced that 29th
September (5th Tuesday) will be a trip to Energus
at Workington, followed by a bar meal at the Royal Yew at Dean.
