President’s Announcements:
St James’ Church Festival of Trees open from 3-7 and all afternoon on
Saturday and Sunday. The Young Writer
competition is running: 20 poems have been received and are to be judged by
Anthony Payne and Tony Parker. There is
a meeting on Thursday about Young Photographer at the Whitehaven News
with a photo opportunity: our winner goes on to the District round. Bag packing at Tesco on Friday from 2
until 6.
Secretarial Announcements: Past President Gordon Pattinson
of Maryport has died, and his funeral was on 15th December. Keswick Charter (last call 5.1). The first meeting of the New year will be on 5th January, and members are
recommended to watch The Weakest Link beforehand.
Club Members’ Announcements: VP Paul: Energus
Christman Party will be on 16th
December, with 136 pensioners being entertained, and 22 other guests, carers,
drivers and dignitaries being involved.
Judith Jones raised £5000
at a Civic Hall concert and intends to run an event at Halloween in aid of
Rotary. She also plans a fund-raiser at
the end of January in which Rotarians will provide helpers.
Terry O’Connell
mentioned a training session at Energus that day
about property marking to protect property from looters in the aftermath
of the floods: training is to be cascaded and Rotarians may be involved.
Mark Harrison mentioned a successful night
at Moresby v. Maryport: the Club is currently unbeaten and is top of the snooker
league.
John Messenger: there will be a collection
at Tesco on February 27th in aid of Polio Eradication as part of
a national day of Thanks for Life: Rotarians will be needed for shaking
buckets.
