Did You Know ....? : At the R/C of London the guest speaker, yesterday, was Mr Colin Barrow: Mr Ralph Land – President – was in the chair.          (How interesting!)

Presidents Announcements: Council meeting at President David’s abode tomorrow (Wednesday 17th) .

An e-Mail From DG Mick Eady regarding the Bournemouth Conference and a note about a £2.75p levy on new member recruitment – see Pres. David for details.

 

Secretary’s Announcements (PP David Allan standing in for PP Anthony): Charter anniversaries for us to attend – R/C of Furness Peninsula 9th April, menu choice, last call 30th March.

R/C of Kendal 21st April, menu choice, last call 6th April.

R/C of Appleby 16th April, menu choice, last call 6th April.

 

Members Announcements: Rtn Jim announced a Golf event to take place at Seascale Golf Club on 20th August (subject to confirmation), teams of four £100 per team, entry fees and refreshments included  -  should be a good “do” to which we all need to give support. This is not just for Rotary, invite your friends, family and colleagues to enter !

 

Embroidered aprons to pass to our “Young Chef” and others candidates were displayed.

 

Presidents ‘Spring Ball’ now running at 60 attendees – need more – 10th April at Cleator Moor Masonic Hall.

 

Whitehaven & District Lions charter anniversary and dinner dance, Hunday Manor, see Secretary Anthony for date/cost.

 

Reminder that Ladies Night is 28th May this year – as marked in our Club Handbook – V-P Paul is arranging a venue.

 

PP Richard has arranged an in-house speaker for the fifth Tuesday this month – 30th March – at the Chase Hotel, normal meeting time, ladies invited.

 

It was announced that the I W Club is folding after June, a lively debate followed regarding offering membership to this Rotary club.

 

100 Club Draw: The following were recipients of the quarterly payout:-

£  10 = Jonathan Milburn

 

Club Draw: Ticket Nº  207 – IPP Gordon who graciously donated the winnings to Club funds.

Fellowship Officer: Substituting for Ricky/David was PP Richard who fined the President twice (shame) for a late start of the meeting – 12 minutes – and announcing the toast to The Queen as The Grace (shame)

He then regaled us with a typical Irish joke regarding the quickest way (from Dublin) to Wicklow          ha, ha, haaa!

 

Meeting Ended: Final toast quaffed at 9.00pm then twelve half-frozen Rotarians wended their way home.
