Club Members’ Announcements David Allan reminded the Sec that on
6th April the Sea Cadets applied for a grant: was this ever followed
up? Pres David assured him that it will
be: the amount is to be decided; there is the possibility of a visit to the
ship.
Reports were received as follows:
COMVOC:
Alan F-F was to be replaced by John Dyson, but for various reasons he will be
unable to fulfil this role and another Chairman will be sought. There will be continuing support for Calvert
Trust, Kids Out, Life Education, Stroke Awareness and the Technology
Tournament.

Support will continue for RYLA, RYPEN, School
dictionaries, Young Chef, Young Photographer and Young Writer.

and the refurbishment of computers, the Mali Water project and the HALO
anti-landmine initiative.
Paul Berry
mentioned that the Golf Tournament was in hand.
There will be a charity Rock Night at the Civic Hall on November 6th. New members will be encouraged to join and
there will be a Membership Evening in the new Rotary Year. There will be more involvement in local
community projects.
Membership will be increased and
sustained where possible.
The diary will be developed to give an
overview of the year.
New Committee Chairmen would need to
spread their workload, and to this end guidelines will be drawn up for the use
of committee members.
There should be committee meetings - chairmen should organise meetings and involve
the members of their committees to drive initiatives forward.
Energus had made possible the
Christmas Party for pensioners and this would continue this Christmas: those
with no social background would be targeted.
Paul will be discussing with the next
two Presidents - Harry Harper and Tony Parker -
goals for the next three years.
The adoption of a school would be
considered.
A fundraiser for overseas projects
would be organised.
ADG Chris Jefferson
mentioned the Leadership Plan in District 1190, which concentrates on
continuity to achieve goals. Egremont
and Silloth Clubs were finding life difficult at the moment, but Workington and
Workington Derwent were doing well, thanks to the high-profile “Paint the Town
Red” initiative.
