Public Participation

There is to be a public meeting in Whitehaven Civic Hall on Thursday 1st February 6.45/7.00pm when the health service Clinical Assessment, Treat & Support Service (C A T S) will be debated.

As this issue is yet another stealth method of reducing West Cumbrians medical facilities it is incumbent upon us as individuals to attend and voice our concerns.

Humour

Pat and Mick, upon hearing of the grounding of the container ship on Branscombe Beach, decided they also would scavenge for salvage. Pat came away with 23 deck chairs and Mick took five bags of sand!

We have received a letter from FRANCESCO ATTESTI, a Rotarian classical pianist member of the Rotary Club of CortonaItaly in which he offers to perform, accompanied by the mezzo soprano ANNIKA KASCHENZ, a program of classical music providing a suitable venue can be found in our area.

Is there anyone in the Club willing to organise this?

Anyone interested contact the Secretary.

Humour

A new form of Viagra has been produced which is in powder form and be consumed by both men and women.

The powder should be added to your cup of tea.

It does not have any effect on your sex life but it stops your biscuits going soft when you dunk them!

Rotary Technology Tournament

To be held at Lillyhall College all day Friday 2nd March. Teams of school children from most of the schools in West Cumbria will participate.

In groups of four selected by their age they are set the same task; to draw, plan and construct a technical project which will only be revealed at the start of the tournament.

They are then judged by a team of local leaders-of-industry for their imagination, ingenuity, planning and ultimate creation of and working demonstration of the project.

Rotarian stewards are needed from all six Rotary clubs to register arrivals, host the distinguished guests and generally help out.

A list is circulating at club meetings upon which to enter your name.
